We're back! 2013 Lindenhurst Drill Recap

by Dan Laverty

The 2013 New York State Firematic Drill season is now underway. This past Saturday all the teams who could participate convened in Lindenhurst at their facilities. The arch which sustained damage had been repaired and was in great shape for the drill. The parade was a success and was enjoyed by all. Go to WWW.NYSDRILLTEAMS.COM to view the results of the parade. The sun was out and there There were a great amount of fans and family in the grandstands to experience our sport up close and personal. The Lindenhurst Fire Department had promoted this event as “Fun for All” and “Family Friendly”. The day was exactly that. When the parade ended the drill started at around 11:30. The Joe Hunter Memorial Scoreboard was up and running. In addition to the scoreboard the crew running it also played music at appropriate points during the drill. This made the day more enjoyable and memorable. The Drill Team Radio Crew was up and ready to go thanks to Producer Fred Bencivega; Announcers/On Air Talent Paul & Artie Susskind, Lenny Gombert, Robert Scott Noonan and Dan Laverty helped keep everyone informed. The Lindenhurst Fire Department with the help of East Islip, North Lindenhurst and Copiague maintained the track throughout the day and made sure everyone had a safe and enjoyable day. Live results were available online thanks to Stephen McCarroll who showed some serious dedication by providing live results even though he was unable to attend the drill himself.
